Digital Technology for X-rays

At Northside Dental Group we take X-rays using digital technology. This means there is no waiting time for film to develop, no pollution to the environment from chemicals used in the traditional process, and 75% less radiation exposure than with the conventional method. By simply placing a digital sensor in your mouth, we can view a specific area or have a panoramic image of your mouth to see both upper and lower jaws in one shot.

A Camera That Lets You See Your Problem Areas

Our patients appreciate becoming part of the team so they can make decisions for their best dental health. Through the use of the intra-oral video camera, a close-up picture of the inside of your mouth is provided. It allows patients to get a good look at what’s going on with their teeth and gums. They can see which areas are fine as well as those that need treatment.

Prevent Tooth Loss from Injury or Trauma to Your Mouth

Don’t become a tooth loss statistic from sports involvement. Every year approximately 5 million teeth are lost due to trauma and injury to the mouth while playing sports. These traumatic injuries can be prevented by wearing a custom-made mouthguard. We fit patients for upper and lower mouthguards to provide maximum protection against tooth loss. The mouthguards sold in stores neither fit as they should nor effectively protect your teeth.

The American Dental Association recommends wearing custom mouthguards for the following sports: acrobatics, basketball, boxing, field hockey, football, gymnastics, handball, ice hockey, lacrosse, martial arts, racquetball, roller hockey, rugby, shotputting, skateboarding, skiing, skydiving, soccer, squash, surfing, volleyball, water polo, weight lifting, and wrestling.

A Smooth New Approach to Dental Cleanings

With advancements in dental technology, we can now clean your teeth and the deep pockets at the gumline with little or no discomfort. We use the Piezo Scaler™, which emits high-frequency vibrations to easily and efficiently remove the build-up of plaque and tartar. It does its job faster than regular hand-scaling instruments, and like so many of our other patients, you will be amazed how clean your teeth feel!

No More Gagging!

Most patients will need a crown at some point. This procedure normally requires an impression to be taken with that awful goop that causes most people to gag. In our practice, we use the latest technology that doesn’t require the traditional impression material. It’s called CEREC™. This sophisticated computer program actually takes the impression! It’s much more accurate and much faster than ever before, which means you spend less time in the chair and vastly reduce the chance of an ill-fitting crown. Ask us about CEREC. You’re going to love it!

Nothing beats an easier, more comfortable dental visit. If you have questions about the latest dental technology, give us a call today at (601)-921-4064.
